Women's Services

Great Expectations Family Centered Maternity Care
We deliver the care and compassion you're expecting! We bring all our services together in state-of-the-art LDRP birthing suites. LDRP stands for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum, and your "feels like home" LDRP suite is where all those stages of birthing take place. Each suite is equipped with a special birthing bed that combines the convenience and comfort necessary to meet your obstetrical needs. And, should a special delivery be necessary, all the technical and medical support of the entire hospital is available at a moment's notice.

Center for Breast Imaging
Mammography is important to a woman's ongoing health, and every effort is made to ensure that your experience is satisfactory. The Center is located on the hospital's first floor and is accredited by the Food and Drug Administration and the American College of Radiology. Day and evening appointments available. Call (330) 615-3200.

Osteoporosis Screening and Treatment Program
Osteoporosis Screening and Treatment Program offers women and men a way to evaluate their risk for osteoporosis. Through the results of a Bone Densitometer screening, your physicians can determine your bone mineral density and, in time, detect any changes in bone mass. Summa Barberton Hospital's Ambulatory Care Center features the state-of-the-art Hologic DEXA bone density scanner. Osteoporosis is preventable with proper exercise, diet and medical treatment. To schedule your appointment call (330) 615-3200.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy System
Stereotactic Breast Biopsy System offers women who have a suspicious area on a mammogram a minimally invasive technique that allows the sampling of many types of breast lesions without the need for surgery or anesthesia. The Mammotome Breast Biopsy System uses a thin rotating probe and vacuum system to gather sample tissue. The Mammotome system is three times more accurate than core needle biopsy in detecting early stage breast cancer. It is also superior to other similar systems because a smaller incision is needed. Call (330) 615-3200.
