Family Practice Residency Program

About the program
The Family Practice Residency Program at Summa Barberton Hospital was established in 1982. It has progressively grown and has graduated 108 physicians. These physicians have gone on to various practices throughout the U.S., as well as other countries.

At Summa Barberton Hospital we are committed to a focused training program in family practice. That is why we offer a "one of a kind in Northeast Ohio" residency program. Our residents compete with no other fellow or residents from other specialties for patient-care opportunities. This allows our residents to participate in virtually all procedures that, elsewhere, would be reserved for other specialty residents.

Our Family Practice Residency Program offers:
A nationally recognized residency program
No competing residencies
An excellent record of filling in the match
The only program of its kind in Northeast Ohio
18 residency positions; six per year
Knowledgeable faculty with diverse interests
Flexibility in designing curriculum and electives
Five months total pediatric experience
The latest technology with a community hospital
A library with computer-assisted learning, a well-equipped laboratory and a convenient treatment room.
